The following letter, neatly folded written on looseleaf paper is found on the cot in Krys Robin's hospital room addressed to 'Spence'.
Spence,
I'm sorry. I don't know what happened. I don't know what's going to happen. You're so smart, I wish I could ask you, but something tells me you might not have an answer either.
I was scared. About everything. I don't understand. I know how I feel but I have no idea what's going on in that head of yours. I just can't... Figure it out. I wish I could. I usually can tell when you're happy, or scared, or excited and I love that about you. About us. I love making you feel things (at least I think I do, I don't want to sound egotistical in stating that). I'm confused. I keep thinking that you've said or done something, but given all that has happened I keep thinking that it's all in my head... You know?
I do know one thing. I do know how I feel about you... I think. I don't know. I don't know anything. I'm just writing in circles now.
Don't try and find me. I want you to be happy. I want you to keep helping people like you helped me. I want you to... find someone to make you happy... Even if that person can't be me.
I'm going to write out instructions for when you find that special someone:
To Spence's next.... To Spence's... To Spencer's wife,
-Be kind.
-Be understanding.
-Be patient.
-Make sure he sleeps.
-Make him do things that he never thought that he could.
-Make him stop once in a while and just... Be.
-Keep his hands warm. They get cold easily.
-Don't let him drink too much coffee. It'll eat out his insides.
-Keep him out of trouble. Somehow he finds it or vice versa.
-Make sure his hair is out of his face. Sometimes he likes to hide behind it.
-Make him laugh.
-Study up on your facts. He likes to be challenged.
-Don't let him win all of the time. Only sometimes.
-Please notice how his cheeks turn bright pink when you tease him.
-Kiss those cheeks, even when they aren't pink.
-When he's sad, hold his hand or give him a hug... Even if you're scared.
-Give him all that you can, and hope that he understands, because he constantly gives all that he can.
-Watch him when he sleeps. It's one of those simple things you learn to appreciate.
-Take care of him for me.
I'll leave this letter here. I hope that it finds you.
Love,
Krys Robin
