"When the dark wings of chaos shroud the universe,
When present must confront tomorrow and the yesteryear,
When curse is blessing and blessing is curse,
When everything has a price that is so dear..."
Welcome to Arysia.
War is generally an abhorred thing, detested by young and old. With good reason, too. It destroys and destructs, and there is nothing that can be gained by it. But here, in Arysia, it is often everything to the people. In Arysia, you may not know anything, but you will know war.
Two wars are in the fate of the present at this juncture in time. The first is that of the past. Years ago, an evil spirit called Mortia, and her minions, were imprisoned in the East by Raffelia, the most powerful sorceress of that time. A few months ago, they were released by a foolish, unknowing apprentice of a sorcerer. This time, there is no Raffelia to save the people of Arysia. Beautiful in form and powerful beyond imagination, these spirits are the bane of all of Arysia if they were to grow in power.
On the other hand, in the North, the Prince is overthrown by the invaders from the distant lands of the north-east, people who are now trying to assimilate themselves into the culture of those whom they have invaded, and who are facing much opposition. The Prince, exiled to the wastelands, is the leader of this opposition, and even though subdued is not yet defeated.
Arysia stands on the brink of two great wars - the war of the past and the war of the future. It is the time of great heroes about whom songs will be written, the time of beautiful damsels who will be the key to the future, but it is also the time of the normal, suffering peasant, since in such trying times, even mere survival can be heroic.
Especially since the people of Arysia must face the possibility that to defeat Mortia, their only choice is to befriend the very invaders who now spread themselves through their lands.
Can Arysia make friends with the future to win the war of the past? And how long will this uneasy truce last?
