"You know there’s got to be a faster way to do this. How about we just change the first question to ‘have you recently dated a homicidal pyromaniac?’"

Character Name: Spencer Reid
Age: 28 years old
Date of Birth: 10/12/1981
Residence: Washington, D.C.
Profession: Profiler
Appearance: Reid is a quite tall and is very skinny. He has always been skinny his whole life, though he eats fairly well. He is so fragile looking that at times one can be afraid to squeeze him to hard in case he breaks. His face is a sweet face. One of an innocent child. His hair is a light brown that he likes to grow to about shoulder length before he cuts it again to almost as short as Hotch's. This he does about once every year. His eyes are a chocolate brown. The are deep and innocent looking, yet at filled with pain. Not only of his own past pains but those of the thousands of lives he has seen effected and ruined by the evil of the world.
Reid is often found wears what could be called as normal geek cloths. Meaning dress pants and a nice shirt and tie with a sweater vest over it. This look works well with the long hair genius, even though it always isn't very well matched. Other times he wears a nice shirt and tie, but never wears a suit. As pointed out before a lot of times he cloths don't always match that well and everyday he wears two different colorful mitch-match socks.
Personality: Reid is a very awkward guy. He is very smart and when he feels cornered the only thing he can think of doing is spill out a line of random statistics that not even a computer would know. His brilliance is a great tool, though, and can be used to find and figure out the thoughts of the UNSUB. The only draw back is a lot of times it can scare off women, or really anyone that doesn't know him well enough to know that he is just scared. Reid is just not a social guy, always having trouble connecting to girls, since ever since he was a kid he was made fun of by girls and boys a like.
Under the awkward shell he is a very nice guy, able to focus and come up with things that no one else would think of. He his very kind and doesn't like to see anyone hurt, but with a job like his that it hard. He is also more of a follower than a leader. He likes to be given orders and having to follow them, not that he can't function with out them or anything, he just doesn't like to be the guy standing in front of everyone telling them what to do. His fear of public speaking has gotten better over the years and as long as he is standing up there with someone else he is able to stand having all eyes on him.
Spencer tries to make himself seem like a big macho guy, though he would never look like one. This, along with his intellect, is a shell he wears to protected himself from God knows what. If you get under this shell you find a man still under repairer from the countless things that have happened to him in his life time. You find a venerable kid fighting against a world that is to big and scary for one person to take on. Yet he doesn't have enough trust in the world to let more people help him. Though he does have his team mates and he knows that if he ever needs them they will be there for him.
History: Reid was born in Las Vegas Nevada to William Reid, a local lawyer, and Diana Reid a professor dealing with paranoid schizophrenia. From a very young age Spencer started to show his genus. When he was ten years old his father left him and his mother, leaving the young boy to be the man of the house and to continue to take care of his ill mother. When he was twelve he graduated from high school and went to Cal Tech. Though out the next years, much like his high school years, he dealt with sever bullying which didn't make his ruff home life any better. When he turned eighteen he had no choice but to send his mother to a mental hospital, so he could start living a life of his own.
Soon he had surpassed all his class mates with three PhDs, one in psychology, one in engineering, and one in mathematics. Currently he is working on one in philosophy. Once he was twenty-one he applied to the FBI, after seeing one of Agent Jason Gideon's lectures and finding his calling. The skinny genius soon got out of the academy and was quickly swept up in to the BAU where he became a profiler, one of the youngest.
In the following years he found a family with the team. But it wasn't all fun and games. Other then the constant strain of death and mayhem, and the in-laying doubt and ridicule he got from his young age, Reid was also placed many times in the line of fire. Only a couple of weeks after his twenty-fourth birthday he found himself held hostage with his supervisor Aaron Hotchner in the ER by an angel of death that wasn't very good at his job. A few months later he found himself in a similar position, only this time he placed himself in it to try and save a co-worker being held by a severely schizophrenic man. A case that brought a few hind emotions to the surface. He was also almost blown up by a man that was once in the sanitarium with his mother, a case which forced him to reveal him mentally ill mother to the rest of the team.
A little less than a year later he was abducted by a man with three different personalities. In this time he was tortured, both physically and mentally, as well as being drugged with dulidid. Lucky he got out of the situation with little physical and mental damage. Though he had become addicted to the drug. He fought with this addiction for several days until he was able to stop, with the help of his so-do-father Gideon. But as always once an addict always an addict and he has fought with the urges many times.
In early 2008 his mentor snapped and Gideon left the BAU with little word to Reid. This shattered Spencer's life for a while, but the close bonds that he formed with the rest of his team made the loss easier to take. Over the next few months his life came in and out of focus. He was still worried about the possible mental illness that could take hold of him, but now he was also fighting with the addiction. Fortunately fro him not much happened directly to him, though several things did happen to him team mates, his family, yet nothing he couldn't get over, no deaths or anything like that. He did, at one point, think his father was a murderer and finally squared away a long time nightmare. Luckily everything turned out okay, and he even started the beginnings of a relationship with his father. One which in many ways he didn't really want to continue.

Roleplay Sample: Reid was surprised when he heard JJ's voice echo over the noise. He was about to ask again, or maybe just drop it and lead the way anyways. At her reply he slowed and made room for himself next to his team mate, thinking it would be easier to talk with her if he was not in front of her. "Different places." he muttered, really not meaning to say it aloud so was not intending JJ to respond, and if she had heard then he didn't want her to, Reid just wanted it dropped. "There is a pizza place not far from here, by terminal C, that is good. That might be easiest, get to pizzas?" He said forming the last part as a question. Even when he was put in a leading position he wasn't going to make the full decision, and would change if JJ said no, though he was fairly sure that she wouldn't. At the moment the two were by terminal E so it was only a few more over.
As they walked slowly through the crowd he couldn't help but see random things about the people around him. One woman was holding her stomach so tight that Reid knew that she was scared, most like a run away of some sort of abusive situation near by. Her parents would be coming to find her soon. A man talking to loud on his cell phone that you didn't have to hear him to know he was really mad about something. By the select words Reid gathered he was mostly going to be fired if he didn't get home soon. A teen with 3 young children trailing her like a mother duck and chicks. All looked alike so much that they had to be siblings, they looked kind of lost.
All this raced through the genius's mind as he waited to few seconds for JJ to respond, luckily it wasn't about the case, or the 20 plus women that lives had been ruined. The more that could get hurt as they waited here. Would they get fired like the man stuck here? Most likely not, but others would suffer like the girl or the teen and the three children. Spencer wondered if some one was paying enough attention to the two of them, or even the others back at the terminal, to see what they were going through. He wondered what the people around them thought, what he was showing on his face. Was he sad looking, or nervous, or just impatient? Would they care? Quickly Reid tuned back to JJ for her answer to his question, deep down wondering if the seconds he had used to think this had been more and he had missed what she had said.
