"We will take two. When can we pick them up?"
That was it. That was all they needed. They now officially had the order being placed on several recording devices stationed throughout the room. Every idiot court and jury would convict them. It was set in stone now and Matthew knew that, though it had happened rather quickly, they this was finished hook, line, and sinker. These two would easily be convicted and rot in jail for a very, very long time.
Reaching to his side he removed his hidden gun, popping to his feet both hands on the trigger he stared both of them down, as if daring them to even move from the couch in any way other than how he directed them. "You're under arrest for conspiracy, solicitation to purchase weapons of destruction, and intention to carry out acts of terrorism." He announced, figuring that Kate would have heard and joined in. One against two wasn't exactly fair, two against two evened the playing field.
"Put your hands where I can see them." He ordered the two men gruffly, nodding his head as if to urge them onward. He stood firmly in his spot near his chair, not budging until he knew it was safe to approach. Matthew knew that members from the Bureau would be along soon, they had been listening from across down the street, and backup would be arriving shortly.

Sure enough Kate heard Matt shout at the two men. Her heart racing she ran into the room cutting off the exit, pointing her gun that she had pulled from her ankle at them. She let Matt talk, though she noticed that he had missed one thing. Smiling she was glade to be the one to say it, "FBI, don't move!" She saw the looks on the two's face when they learned that the two of them were FBI. It was worse that there was a girl FBI agent, but that just made Kate feel ever better. If there was one thing that she truly liked about this job was taking down the bad guys so they could never hurt anyone again. Killing them was better than sending them to jail, but it would be kind of hard for Kate to shot the two of them with out making it seem on purpose.
Liam cursed under his breath in Arabic. Then, still not having out his hands up looking at Michael. He said a few things in Arabic about how they didn't see this coming, nothing Kate found useful enough to respond to. Then Michael said, "Should we take them?" in Arabic. Harshly Kate snapped in English so that Matt would have an idea of what was going on. She was sure he knew so of the language, how couldn't he, but she was fluent. "Don't even think about it!" She stepped forward as to show them that she was serous. In Arabic she added, "I have no problem with shotting you right now." With that the two looked at each other with worry, then back as the two federal agents. Still not moving. Kate looked over at Matt for a second then back to the men. She kind of wanted at least one of them to pull out a gun, preferably Liam.

Matt's hands held the gun straight out, pointing between the two men as if daring them to challenge him. Matt was a bit unlike Kate however in so many ways. In situations like these he liked clean arrests, no gun fire, no harm, while Kate seemed ready to pounce and pummel just about everyone. Matt was old school he believed that no matter the crime everyone deserved their day and court. He believed this even AFTER his older sister was killed, though few knew about that.
Matthew spoke a few languages very loosely, only because the FBI made him when they brought him in to Counter Terror from the police department. Most of what he had retained however was from listening on various stings and eventually picking up a few scattered words. Of course when criminals were rambling the words of quickly his limited understanding became even less and all he heard was murmurs or yells that meant nothing to him other than the possibility of something bad. Luckily Kate seemed to always slide in a few words from her own knowledge to help him get the jist of the situation.
"Down on the ground NOW." He gestured, pointing with a nudge of his shoulder. The two men looked at one another at first hesitant before they decided it was best not to risk their own lives and slowly made their way down onto the floor. Once they were laying on their bellies Matt removed a pair of cuffs from his jeans pocket expecting Kate to do the same.
He straddled the back of one of the man, roughly taking his arms and pushing them together before he clicked the silver cuffs together in one motion. He had been doing stings like this for years afterall, and handcuffing people even before that when he worked with the NYPD. It was all second nature to him, just like breathing.
"Swat should be in here shortly." He told Kate as the man that he had pinned, Michael, gave a bit of a rough jerk with his elbow. Matt immediately grabbed his pinned back arm and nudged him toward the ground roughly. Matthew never acted in such a manner unless someone tested his patiene. This could go clean or dirty, either way he wouldn't let these guys win.

Kate was kind of sad when the men decided to go to the ground. As fast as Matt had moved forward Kate was on Liam doing the same thing. Though Matt wasn't pointing his gun any more Kate was. She cuffed the man, very harshly, then held the gun to the small of her back. The first reason she did this was because she was small, and skinny, barely over hundred pounds, so if the terrorist wanted to he could flip her over with one quick move. The other was to show that she wasn't joking around and that she had the power, though she wasn't even sure if Matt understood that. He didn't like it, she knew that, but she also knew he understood. "Don't move or I'll blow your head off." She whispered in his ear in Arabic, not wanting Matt to know what she was saying, though he would have guessed the jest of it.
Then she looked at Matt with a half smile and said, "That was easy. I guess we can't stay here tonight than?" She laughed slightly, only just trying to tick Liam and Michael off a little more. She had been looking forward to staying in the house for a little while, it was tones better than anywhere else she stayed. Not that it really mattered to her she barely slept anyway. She kind of missed a good house now and again, it made her feel like nothing had happened and she was still living in her large house with her family.
That was when the SWAT team ran into the door, guys out and ready for anything. Kate looked up at them and said in her normal sarcastic voice, "The parties over boys, better luck next time." She knew that ticked a punch of them off, like she was trying to rub it in their face that a girl had done a "boy's" work. Truly she didn't feel that way, she was just trying to be annoying. Letting one of the SWAT men take Liam she got on her feet and slipped her gun back to her ankle. She looked at Matt waiting for his orders.

Matt's dark eyes momentarily wandered from the man beneath him when he spotted Kate shoving Liam rather roughly. True he probably deserved it but rarely did Matt ever believe that excessive force was necessary, especially when the men seemed to cooperate. True they weren't innocent, to the contrary in fact, but that didn't mean that gave anyone the right to treat them like garbage. Sure they had been plotting something terrible but they were also people and were born the exact same way that any other person was. It could have been anyone. Any one of them.
In this moment he remembered a discussion he once had with their own data analyst. Scientifically people could say that people were the product of their environment, and to a certain point that was true. In fact, most of the time it was... But then you had certain cases where an individual was loved and cared for so much and still strayed (like Jeffrey Dahmer) or someone who was treated so badly and yet came out like a doll (Krys Robin). It didn't make any sense. It rarely ever did.
Of course he caught her harshly cuffing the man, shoving him about like he was smaller than her (though in reality it was the exact opposite). Usually Matthew would have been amused that finally she was taking her tension out on someone other than him or his team, but for some reason, this didn't seem much better. But still he didn't say anything, though he gave her a bit of a 'watch yourself' kind of look with his eyes.
He heard her mumur something in arabic and from her tone he could guess the intention. He hid a sigh as he looked back to the man that he was guarding. Best just to look the other way, let her get it out of her system than fight with her in front of the criminals. "Hold still. You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say will be held against you in the court of law. You have a right to an attorney..." He rambled through the Miranda rights. He knew them well through his work as a police officer. This has to be the millionth time he was blowing through them.
"That was easy. I guess we can't stay here tonight than?"
"Speak for yourself. Tess' birthday is Wednesday." He grunted as he pulled Michael to his feet. Tess was of course Matthew's little sister, his only sister after what had happened and it was common knowledge that he cared a great deal for her. He was always sneaking off to be on the phone with her, see how she was doing.
Tess was the exact opposite of Matthew. Skinny, small, light on her feet, younger, ridiculously bubbly and energetic. She was a dancer. She also was a substitute teacher part time so she was never short on stories. Rumor was Matt's protectiveness of her was something to be rivaled with and was the stem for every fiber of his being. He loved her and ever since they lost Jill he protected her even more forcefully.
"And Krys' birthday is a week after that." She'd be twenty two. What the heck do you get a twenty two year old? What do you get a twenty two year old like Krys?! "I'm here for one night then I'm going back home." He was actually glad that for once it went quickly. Now he had time to pack, make his plane, and do any necessary shopping (which he hated).
The SWAT team entered grabbing the two men and unlike Kate, Matt seemed to distance himself from the situation. No threats, no jabs, instead he just exchanged a quick few words with the team leader before they departed, leaving Matt and Kate alone.
His hands tucked his gun back into its hollister (he didn't like holding it any longer than he had to). Finally, looking up at Kate he broke the quiet that he had caused. "I bought Tess a music box." He informed his partner out of the blue, clearing his throat because he felt rather awkward discussing such things but needed an opinion. "And I had no idea what to get Robin. I was going to get her a giftcard or something to a computer store but Tess told me that was..." His brow furrowed as he couldn't believe he was saying the words. "Totally lame." A quote directly from his little sis. "So I exchanged it for something else.. I don't think she'll like it though."
Matt every once in a while could amaze people with his conduct. Here he had just completed a weapons bust with his partner and probably saved bunches of people but he seemed detached from it all. How was it possible?

Kate let the SWAT team go off with out any more fuss. She had gotten it all out and was ready to go back to her normal life, even though being undercover was her life. Sometimes she got tired of it, and it wasn't so much the job. It was always around this time of year. It's when Matt got more distant because it was getting close to his sister's birthday. There was something about the way that he treated her that made Kate wonder what had happened. If he had a choose she was sure he would never let her leave his sight. But Kate never asked. It was also close to Krys' birthday as well, which cased a lot of drama amoungth the CT because no one knew what to get her. It was true that Kate had only been there a year and was only a few months younger than Krys, but she already understood the dynamics of the birthdays. The the thing that really made Kate want to be alone was the fact that her own sister's birthdays were coming up in three weeks. And with all the other b-days around this time the feelings came up.
Realin and AnnaLyn would have been 23 this year, it had been eight years, coming up on nine in September, since they died, they were only 15 years old. The two had been twins, but it was more like the three of them were triplets. One thing that very little people knew about Kate was her full name, something she readily didn't share with people, so unless they read her file they didn't know it. It was Kathlen. Some how that name connected her to her sisters. She always thought of it that the last three letters of each of there names was L and N with a different vowel in the middle- I, Y and E.
Looking at Matt she smiled softly. A music box was a nice gift, though Kate knew nothing about this Tess. She was sure Matt would never let Kate see her, he really didn't like her after all he just worked with her because he had to. Yet something told her that he would get nothing but the best for her. She also felt the same way when he was shopping for Krys. When he mentioned getting her a gift card she laughed, almost to much. Everyone knew that a gift card said I have no idea what you like so I hope you like this. Kate got Krys a gift card, for 200 bucks, but the note inside told her not to tell anyone. Kate would have gotten her more, but she knew that even that much would send up a few red flags. Kate had the money to spare, though, after all she was a millionaire.
Matthew seemed totally scared that his gift wasn't going to be good enough. It amused her though. It was only a gift. Buy her a finger puppet and she would have fun for a month. yet it was important to Matt so she decided to humor him. "So, what did you get her than? Don't tell me you spent more than $200, please!" She said laughed trying to lighten the mood. He seemed a little to stressed about this.

"So, what did you get her than? Don't tell me you spent more than $200, please!"
"I... Uh..." Matt suddenly felt very awkward and vulnerable at this question, even a bit embarassed by the answer. Reaching up with his left hand he rubbed the back of his neck, gritting his teeth for a moment with a soft hiss as if searching for the words. Hopefully Kate wouldn't laugh at his response to what he had actually done but of course, a part of him was honestly expecting it and he was fairly certain that he would deserve that kind of reaction.
"I made her something." God, could he sound like anymore of a loser?! He sounded like a five year old who made something for his mommy on Mother's Day! Surely Kate would have a good laugh over this admittance. Not giving her enough time to do so he turned toward the stairs, nodding for her to follow.
Up he went, entering his makeshift bedroom rather briskly before striding right over to his dufflebag. Opening it he took out a small box before turning to face Kate. Carefully he opened it to reveal a long string of brown leather, intricately woven with silver clasps on each end and in the middle of it a silver piece of metal wielded into a guitar pick. And in the middle of the silver pick was her name 'Krys' etched on it. It looked just like Matt's necklace except his was a regular old, worn pick. The box he held contained one that was expensive.
"I picked out the parts I mean. Tess told me I should get Krys one because she's always bringing it up, and it's fairly easy to make.." Matt was uncharacteristically rambling which was usually a habit of Krys' that had apparently rubbed off on him. Oh god, what if it was a stupid idea? Well, at least Kate would be honest, even if brutally so. Lifting his head he studied Kate's reaction closely.

When Matt admitted to making her something Kate didn't laugh. Instead she just tilted her head like a confused puppy. It was interesting to her that he would make something. She wondered what it was. She knew a few FBI guys to carve wood, but Matt didn't fit that category. So what could he have made for her. She couldn't see him giving her a poorly made birthday card. Nothing but the best for his little Krys. And he says there's nothing going on between them.
Still confused Kate followed Matthew up the stairs and into his room. She suddenly realized that there had been microphones in the living room that chances were were still recording. Maybe it was that reason that Matt went up stairs. Or maybe he hadn't thought of that. Anything said down there Krys was bound to listen to, not just because she had to, actually after the terrorists were taken out of the room she should stop listening, but because she was curious. Spying on her friend, that was a nice thing to do. Kate smirked as she entered the bedroom and shut the door, just encase, for Matt's sake, she didn't want his 'Big' surprise to be ruined.
When he pulled out the necklace Kate was momentarily silenced. She didn't know what to say. The thing itself looked really nice. But was even better about it was that it came from the heart. Obviously his necklace was given to him by some one, Kate's money was on Tess, and so giving one to Krys in itself had meaning that Kate didn't know, but she was sure Krys would know. After all she knew everything about Matt and him her. Its just how it went. Luckily Krys or Matt, hadn't gotten the idea to hack into Kate's files and see what her life was really like. Luckily they both honored the little hackers agreement between team remembers. The real reason the necklace seemed to be so nice to Kate was because it came from the heart. Not since she was 14 had she really had a birthday party, or even ever told anyone it was her birthday. Sadly Krys knew that, if anything.
"I think it's nice." She said forcing back a sob. Though that was easy because her whole life was about not crying in front of anyone. "So.. now that you brought it up, what about your necklace?" She asked bluntly with a smile. Quickly before he got the wrong idea she said, "JK," Not that he would know what that meant in the firs place, "I think Krys will like it." She stood there not know what else to say or do. She didn't know if she should go and back up the few things she had taken out to change or not. So she just stood there waiting for Matt to say something.

JK? He had no idea what that meant and the perplexed expression on his face showed that. He wasn't up to date with the young people and their lingo. Oh god, now he was thinking like a senior citizen. He was only forty two for god sakes! It wasn't like he was ancient! Closing the box he moved to put it back into the dufflebag. Out of sight out of mind, but unfortunately that was rarely the case with Kate so he knew that he had to give her some sort of response.
"My sister Jill made it for me." Matt was a terrible liar when it came to personal things about himself, especially when outwardly asked, so he didn't even attempt to make up a story. No, instead he told her exactly who had given it to him. Only, this sister he rarely spoke about. Whenever his phone rang it was Tess not Jill. Whenever he went back home it was to see Tess and his parents, there was no Jill mentioned there either. He was aware that Kate was a bright woman, he couldn't just leave it at that. She wouldn't let him. But that didn't mean he had to give her every last detail.
"She passed away a few years back." He admitted in a muffled voice, not even with the heart to look at her. Luckily the ringing of his phone saved him and the blue glowing tab showed who was calling. Pressing the speaker button the voice was loud and clear.
"I heard you talking about presents!" Came Krys' excited voice from the other end. Of course she had to annoy them, that was part of her job description. "Would they be for a certain girl behind a certain computer that is talking to a certain you on the other line of this phone?"
"No." Matt grumbled and he shut the phone with a click. Kate would understand. This is how his and Krys' relationship always had been. Some banter, some arguing, some difficulty. But in the end it was really and truly worth it. They were good friends, support systems and sometimes all that the other had. He cared for the little squint, there'd be no denying that.
Pocketing his phone with a sigh he stared for a moment at the wall for no particular reason before facing his partner. "So you think that she'll like it?"

When Matt mentioned his sister Jill Kate was suddenly confused. Jill she had thought it was Tess. Why would he have two sisters and never mention one. The answer floated into her head few seconds later. The same reason that no one knew she had twin sisters. They were dead and they were trying to forget the pain. Matt said this quickly enough thinking that Kate was pry, though this was the one subject that she actually wont have tried to learn about. She knew how it felt and knew that she wouldn't want anyone asking questions, so why would she? It was kind of like the hackers code, only it was Kate's code. Much like "do on to others only what you want done on yourself." And that's what she did.
Matt only said that Jill had passed away, but Kate knew that if she had just died of an illness or something then he would have talked about her. The only reason you don't mention some one dead that you cared a lot about, and Kate knew Matt must have loved her a lot, was because he felt guilty, ashamed. He just wanted to forget what he could never change. If you don't talk about it than it never happened, right? Wrong. No matter how much they tried to forget the hardships that had passed there was no way that they could ever forget, not even drugs worked to whip the memory away. That meant that Kill had died in same painful way, and Matt thinks, even if it wasn't true, that there was something he could have done to prevent it.
When the phone rang Kate was as glad as Matt. This meant that she didn't have to break character and not ask more about this Jill. It was Krys and her happy go lucky voice rang over the phone like a puppy begging for a bone. Kate smiled and let Matt do all the talking, and then hang up. She didn't mind, it brought a sense of normality back into the room. With a small laugh she said, "Yeah, she'll like it." Then she grabbed her lap-top off of Matt's dresser and started to exit the room. "I'm going to go get ready to leave." She said half way out the door. Once back in her own room she shut the door and locked it. A lone tear made it's way down her check but that was all she would allow for now. There was no reason to let herself go now. It wasn't even close to night time yet. With that she changed back into her normal baggy hoody and jeans before started to place the few things she had taken out of the bag to find what she had been wearing back into the duffel bag.
