Character Name: Jennifer 'JJ' Jareau
Age: 29
Date of Birth: July 22nd
Residence: Virginia, Quantico, but was born in East Allegheny, PA
Profession: Media Liaison
Appearance:
"JJ: What do you suppose this is about?
Reid: Call me cynical, but considering it's 2 a.m., I doubt it's good news.
JJ: You're a genius."
JJ is a slim, overall average sized somewhat pretty blonde. Her hair is down to her middle back, thin and straight. She stands at around five feet, without heels. She is pretty, yes, maybe enough to catch someone's eye, but not enough to make someone stop in their tracks.
This blond's fashion sense is simple: shirts and slacks. Simple long-sleeved button-ups with black fitting pants. Her outfits are most of the time formal, but of course it switches. JJ is not very picky or bothered when it comes to clothes.

Personality:
"You stop caring, you're jaded. You care too much, it'll ruin you."
A full and armed FBI agent, JJ is an extremely gifted speaker. Also calm and patient, she is often counted on to provide counseling to families as well as to be the one who provides the "news", good or bad to the families. She will at times accompany the local law enforcement when they have to do death notifications.
As an athlete, JJ was the captain of her High School varsity soccer team. She is also quite talented at darts and loves to play cards with Reid- always trying to beat him, and did once.. There are also hints that she is skilled at "stacking the deck" though JJ would be sure to deny this "cheating" charge.
JJ is very much like a motherly figure for the team, somewhat like Garcia. She loved her team as family, as they all do with each other. Further, she is a phenomenal storyteller, able to trick even those who know her quite well with a tall tale.

History:
"How do we find a man who's trapped inside his head?"
Young JJ was born in a small town, where everyone knew each other. She lived a rather normal life; no sudden tragedies, no unexpected glory, nothing. She was in her varsity soccer team, though, but other than that, nothing from her pasts stands out as much as any other team member's does.
When she was young, JJ collected butterflies, finding them the most fascinating things on Earth. When she reached high school though, she gradually forgot butterflies and went into teen adolescent stuff. Growing into college, JJ soon took up criminology and joined the BAU after graduating from university. And thus, young Agent Jennifer Jareau was made.
FBI BAU Supervisory Special Agent Jennifer "JJ" Jareau has JJ is the team's liaison with the media and local police. She isn't a profiler, as she declined Hotchner's suggestion to "take the classes" to become one. She once went on a date with Reid to a Washington Redskins games, but it wasn't taken any further.
Part of her job description includes holding press conferences and getting the necessary information out to the media. This can be dangerous if the Unsub reacts badly to the often intentional taunting or if he views the interaction with the public as a violation of the rules.
She acts as the gateway to the team, deciding which cases are worked and which are passed up. She has stated that she has the ability to "make anything a BAU case". This choice is extremely trying to her and even Hotch is aware that she constantly wonders if she has made the right choice. She takes it quite personally when something bad happens in the case she didn't choose.
She is also the team's law enforcement liaison, often making first contact with the local police or sheriff's department and then setting up a place for the team to work out of. It is quite common to hear in everyday, "Hi, Jennifer Jareau, we spoke on the phone?"
Around more than a year ago JJ has been dating Detective William LaMontagne Jr secretly, as she didn't wish for her colleagues to know, even though they knew all along. Soon though, she got to tell them, for fear of losing Will. When they discovered that JJ was pregnant, Will asked her to marry him and told her he was willing to give up his shield to help take care of the baby so she could continue working.
JJ and Hotch have a very respectful relationship that allows her to question him. He has shown that he considers her opinion extremely important. He has also been the one to try to talk her into considering becoming a profiler. When she struggled with a case, taking it too personally, he offered her words of counsel. When mass murderer Jacob Dawes offered information in exchange for a chance to "smell" JJ's hair, Hotch angrily refused, but JJ talked him into, winning the poker game.
Although JJ's relationship with 'Mommy' is fine, it is not as sweet as with Rossi. JJ's relationship with Rossi is still in the early stages and mostly professional. JJ was the one to push to help Rossi with the case that he couldn't get past, a case where the parents of three children were murdered and had been announced closed with the murderer still out.
JJ and Prentiss hit it off almost from Emily's first day at the BAU. After being bitten by wild dogs once, Emily checked on JJ and insisted that she get out of the house. There was a time when Emily, JJ and Garcia played with a bar patron who was trying to pick up on them. She and JJ have at various times teamed up to interrogate a suspects.
If there's any relationship on the team that can be described as being sibling like, it's JJ's one with Morgan. Whether she's tricking him into believing a well told tall tale or pushing for him to blame her for what happened to Reid, they are often contentious, but full of respect. He will challenge her more than the others, asking her why they should take certain cases, but he's also protective of her.
There's been some speculation that the original plan was for JJ and Reid to be hooked up, when Reid had asked her out to a Redskins game. Proof of this appears to be Gideon giving Reid tickets to take JJ. The romantic relationship never went anywhere, however and they settled into a good friendship instead. As the two youngest members of the BAU, they are often teamed up for investigations and interrogations. This led to a traumatic event for both of them when they split up while on an Unsub's property, in a case involving Tobias Hankel. In the aftermath of this, JJ made Reid promise that they wouldn't split up again. As the only one who calls him Spence, they can often be seen on the plane, challenging each other to a game of Gin.
The person easily JJ's best friend on the team would be Garcia. They often communicate during a case by phone, passing information back and forth. On cases where JJ doesn't accompany the rest of the team, she stays back in Garcia's office, monitoring the case. When Garcia was shot, JJ took it the hardest. After killing the Unsub, she stated that she had never hesitated, just done what it took to protect her family.

Oh dear. Bursting through the windows, the orange flames lapped at the night's cold air, spitting through the black sky. A fire-engine came at last, siren howling. Rushing back towards the car, JJ felt Spence's arm grip onto her shoulder. He looked at her anxiously, staring at the three deep cuts she had gotten from the fight earlier. JJ raised her eyebrow and put on a shocked face. "Hey! What th-? These scratches?" she pretended to look over her arms. "Well you know..." she mused a moment later.
"They say scars make a man... But no one ever says anything about women... Why be sexist? Scars make a woman too." she cracked a smile, hoping to cheer up Reid and lift all of theirs spirits just a little. Even though he wasn't too much of an active participant in this recent main massacre, JJ didn't think that his day was brightened by the sight of dead bodies on the coffee unfilled stomach.
Jennifer looked at the building as the firefighters fought the fire. "Oh god Hotch our only evidence was in there!" she yelled to the man. JJ shifted slightly and grabbed on to the edge of the sidewalk with her hands, only to pull them away with a flinch. She looked at her left hand palm and saw a long red burn mark. "Ouch..." she said as she poked it lightly, trying to remember where she got the burn from and unsure of what had hurt more, the burn or the scratches. Quickly hiding her hand, she decided to forget about it until she got home.
"Its not your fault at all..." JJ shifted her eyes and studied the people as their injuries were getting treated. "If you wouldn't have done anything we would all still be either dead or injured. You'd just blame yourself for not doing anything..." she smiled gently at Reid, after he suggested that the house was on fire because he dropped the glass and made a sound.
Well, there were other ways to find the killer.
